Well it is that time of year, COLD and FLU season. So, why not try to prevent it?!

  1. Drink your water. Keeping hydrated keeps your mucous membranes (one of your protective barriers) healthy and prevents bacteria and viruses from entering your body.
  2. Eat a whole foods diet, avoid sugar, and maximize on these immune boosting foods:
    • Garlic and Onions (have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties)
    • Citrus fruits, dark leafy greens (great sources of Vitamin C, which is essential for maintaining healthy immune function).
  3. Run from the cold and flu. Well, not literally, but exercise does stimulate your immune system, so go for a walk, hike, or whatever else you enjoy. Aim for 150 minutes per week.
  4. Supplement with Vitamin D. Seek advice of your ND or MD for appropriate dosing for you and your family.
  5. Come see your neighborhood Naturopathic Doctor 😉 Certain herbs, homeopathic remedies, and supplements can be helpful at preventing and treating colds and flus.
