How We Can Help

At Roots to Branches, we have a variety of tools to help you feel your best. Depending on your individual concerns, we may use one or a combination of the following natural therapies in your treatment:

Clinical Nutrition: The Foundation of Good Health

Roots to Branches Whole Health Clinic

What you eat has a huge effect on how you feel. A diet prioritizing whole foods is the foundation of overall wellness. We look at what you eat, as well as how your body is absorbing and using those nutrients.

Recommendations may include:

  • Including more healthful foods in your diet, specific to your needs.
  • Assessing for food sensitivities.
  • Removing foods that could be harming your health, such as inflammatory foods.
  • Supplementing for nutritional deficiencies.
  • Assessing and assisting your digestive functions, including absorption, and elimination.

Herbal Medicine: The Healing Power of Plants

Roots to Branches Whole Health Clinic

You’ve probably heard of using echinacea for the common cold, ginger for nausea or chamomile for a more restful sleep. Naturopathic Doctors have extensive training in the safe use and prescription of hundreds of herbs to avoid unwanted and potentially dangerous interactions with medications and/or certain health conditions.

We combine herbs to create powerful synergistic effects. We make custom formulas based on your individual personality and health needs.

We prescribe herbs in capsule, liquid (called a tincture), or tea form. We source these products directly from companies that use only organic, sustainably-sourced herbs.

Acupuncture: Stimulating Energy Balance and Flow

Acupuncture can be used to help a variety of conditions, including:

  • Hormone regulation related to PMS, menopause and infertility
  • Anxiety, stress and depression
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic headaches and migraines

You may be nervous to try acupuncture because of a fear of needles or of pain. Don’t worry. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and much smaller than those used when you get blood drawn.  After the first treatment, most clients realize it is actually very relaxing.

Prevention & Lifestyle Counselling: Achieve Life-Long Health

As Naturopathic Doctors, we don’t just address the primary concerns that bring you to our clinic. Our larger goal is to help you achieve optimal health and prevent further illness down the road.

This could mean:

  • Reducing the chemicals you are exposed to through food, cosmetics or your environment.
  • Working on living in the present, free from past regrets or future worries.
  • Putting a program in place to help prevent cardiovascular disease if you have a strong family history.

Laboratory Testing: Investigating Root Causes

To support our services and better assess your health concerns, Roots to Branches offers testing through certified laboratories, such as Rocky Mountain Analytical, ZRT, and Doctor’s Data. Tests use samples of blood, saliva, urine or a combination of the three.

The most commonly recommended tests are:

  • Food Sensitivity Testing: Food sensitivities can cause a variety of symptoms, such as migraines, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, indigestion, fatigue, weight gain, and eczema.
  • Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis: The Cadillac of gastrointestinal tests, this comprehensive investigation of your digestive tract provides details on digestion, absorption, bacterial balance and yeast overgrowth.
  • Hormone Testing: There are a range of hormone tests, including a female panel for hormone imbalance, cortisol testing for adrenal function, a thyroid panel,  and tests for weight management, environmental toxins and fertility.

Public Speaking: Sharing Knowledge & Passion

Both of our Naturopathic Doctors, Tracy Palmer and Mollie Brennan, are always eager to talk about naturopathic medicine. They are frequent guest speakers for organizations and the public on a variety of health topics. If you are interested in having them speak in your community, school or office please contact Roots to Branches.

Ready.Set.Thrive Program

Our Ready.Set.Thrive Program is a new way of taking charge of your health.  It is designed to reconnect women with their thriving selves.   To thrive, is to progress toward or realize a goal despite circumstances; it is feeling energized, empowered, healthy, and happy. It is not about being perfect.

You didn’t start feeling unwell overnight.  Based on our clinical experience, to get to a state of thriving takes time and work.  It takes commitment.  We have designed a program to help you succeed!

This is the Right Program for You, if:

  • You are committed to feeling more energized, empowered, healthy, and happy.
  • You want to be an active participant in your treatment plan and understand the root cause of your symptoms.  Every session we outline how we plan to restore your health, and what outcomes to expect every step of the way.
  • You need a targeted nutritional reset based on your individual needs to help you thrive.
  • You want guidance and strategies to implement what we consider to be the 6 core lifestyle habits that people who are healthy and thriving prioritize more than the average person.
  • You want natural herbal or supplement recommendations by your Naturopathic Doctor to support systems specific to your body and that help stimulate your body’s own healing abilities (ie, we are not into masking symptoms)!
  • You want greater accountability with check-in’s with your Naturopathic Doctor in between your follow-up strategy sessions via our mobile APP (this is a trial and will be available to those that book in for the program by March 1, 2018)

This program is not for you if:

  • You want a quick fix.  We see better results when people commit to lasting change.  That is why we have designed a program that includes an initial visit with a Naturopathic Doctor and five follow-up strategy sessions to reconnect you with your thriving self.
